Coal mining provides many benefits for Queensland communities with coal companies contributing 7% of coal revenues (after deduction of port-related charges) to the state government. The royalties go into Queensland’s consolidated revenue which is used to provide public services including hospitals, roads and schools.

Coal mining in Queensland provides jobs for approximately 13,000 people with Macarthur Coal providing jobs for approximately 600 people.
