The future of the mining industry is tied to its capacity to attract and retain employees. The mining industry plays a vital role in the Australian economy and offers a range of employment opportunities for men and women.
As part of the company's commitment to the sustainability of the mining industry, Macarthur Coal now offers a scholarship in mining engineering. The scholarship is open only to students studying mining engineering through the University of Queensland. Second year students can apply for the scholarship when it is advertised by the School of Mining Engineering at the beginning of each year and the recipient will receive $10,000 per annum for the remaining three years of their degree. The scholarship was first offered in 2007. Further information can be obtained from the School of Mining Engineering at the University of Queensland.
Inaugural recipient of the Macarthur Coal Scholarship, Ben Burgess, is congratulated by Chairman, Keith De Lacy.
